SAMSUNG SET TO UNVEIL GALAXY NOTE 9 ANNOUNCEMENT ON AUGUST 9TH

SAMSUNG REPORTEDLY PLANS GALAXY NOTE 9 ANNOUNCEMENT ON AUGUST 9TH Report from Bloomberg this afternoon says one of the biggest of those phones The Galaxy Note 9 is on track to be announced on August 9th, two weeks earlier than the Note 8 was announced last year, according to the report. Samsung reportedly intends to release the phone by the end of August.     Last year, the Note 8 only went on sale after the iPhone 8 and X had been announced in September, which could have depressed sales by losing would-be buyers to Apple’s new tech. Supposedly, Samsung had actually be hoping to announce the Note 9 even sooner this year, but a report earlier this week said that it was delayed from July due to last-minute design changes. Bloomberg reports that Samsung plans to highlight an upgraded camera in the Note 9. That likely means the Note 9 will get the same dual-aperture trick that the Galaxy S9 picked up earlier this year, which was supposed to help the phone better expose for br

Messi finally overtakes Ronaldo

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has overtaken a Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario among the top goalscorers in South American history. He  now needs only 14 more goals to become the all-time record scorer, according to  Soccer Laduma . The Argentine netted a hat-trick in his side’s 4-0 friendly win over Haiti on Wednesday morning, taking his overall tally for the Albiceleste to 64 goals. In doing so, he bettered the record of Selecao  forward Ronaldo, who retired with 62 strikes for Brazil. Three-time World Cup champion Pele, who sits in seventh spot in the worldwide all-time ranking, is the only South American player to have scored more than Messi. Pele retired with 77 goals for Brazil, which means Messi needs to score 14 more times to overtake the legendary striker. The Blaugrana attacker also extended his own record as Argentina’s all-time record scorer, and is now 10 strikes ahead of second-placed Gabriel Batistuta. Sergio Aguero, who scored his country’s fourth goal in the

Affectionately dubbed ‘Old Sober’, the little-known New Orleans dish called yakamein is said to right even the worst symptoms of fun. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on StumbleUpon Share on Google+ Share by Email On a recent Sunday afternoon, Frenchmen Street was relatively tranquil. People still were sleeping off the night before or finishing up late-day brunches to quell any lingering after-effects. Strains of jazz – an accordion, clarinet, tuba – leaked onto the street. Rainbow-bright clapboard houses competed with the brilliant blue of the sky. But the most New Orleans detail of all was the paper cup I was holding. No, it wasn’t a hurricane, that noxiously sweet rum cocktail every tourist sips through a straw at least once during their visit. It was the opposite: a remedy, affectionately dubbed ‘Old Sober’, said to right even the worst symptoms of fun. Despite how I’d been served it, it wasn’t a drink. It was a soup – sort of. M

Chocolate is helping protect the Amazon rainforest. Here’s how..

Image
For years, Valdomiro Facchi has made a living ranching on land carved from the Amazon rainforest. He’s a small player in one of the world’s biggest environmental disasters. But now that his cattle have trampled the pastures to dust – and new laws prevent him from clearing fresh land – he has to find new income. “I want to diversify,” said the 68-year old rancher, outlining plans to plant cocoa trees on his 300 hectare plot in Brazil’s Para State. “I want to have the cocoa income when profit from cattle ranching fails.” Facchi illustrates a trend that is turning damaged parts of the Amazon basin green again and creating an usual alliance between the agriculture industry and conservationists. Brazil’s cattle ranchers are planting cocoa on their used-up pasture, with financial support from international environmental groups. That’s a big change. For decades, ranchers have been the engine of clear-cutting in the Amazon rainforest that has rendered an area nearly the size of Spain
