Nigerian Artistes That Turned Their F*ck-Ups Into Big Success

Image
Sometimes things don’t work out how you expect them to and no one knows this more than artistes. From break ups to grammatical blunders, the challenges come but the true test of character is in their ability to make the best of the situation. Here are five artistes who succeeded in turning their blooper moments into rounds of applause. 1. Seyi Shay – Starting off the list is none other than the  Electric Package  herself. After infamously saying that an “EP” means electric package in an interview on HipTV, Seyi became the troll target of Nigerian social media. Although she took hit after hit, the musician did not allow the jesting to get to her. What did she do? She came out with a remarkable extended play and guess what she called it? Yep!  Electric Package . I can’t think of many better ways to turn around misfortune than that. 2. Burna Boy – Oluwaburna is no stranger to controversy but what he seems to be more familiar with, however, is thriving from them. Following his alle

e Do long prison sentences deter crime? Does spending ‘100 years’ behind bars actually help deter crime? BBC Future explores the impact of long prison sentences, and looks at how Norway is taking an opposite approach. He was sentenced to a staggering 13,275 years in jail – an amount of time longer than the entire Neolithic era. But in actuality, thanks to Thailand’s penal code that limits prison sentences,  Kittitradilok will only end up serving 20 years . Still, there’s something about the idea of a long prison term that gives the impression that justice is being served. And while Kittitradilok’s case was mostly optics, plenty of people around the world rea

How Nigerian pupils cheat during WASSCE through websites

Image
While some youths sweat and rack their brains for answers to questions at the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination, others have perfected the art of getting cheap grades through some websites which obtain questions before the start of exams. An investigation by PUNCH Metro revealed this on Tuesday. Our correspondent had pretended to be a candidate sitting for the WASSCE being administered by the West African Examination Council. He subscribed for answers to Commerce (Objective and Theory) from five of the result-peddling websites – naijaclass.com, examcrown.com, examsort.com, waecexpo.com and guruslodge.com. While naijaclass, examcrown, examsort and waecexpo demanded N400 MTN recharge cards to send a link to the answers of the exam and N800 for direct answers to phones, guruslodge demanded N800 to send the answers directly to candidates’ phones. Candidates were, however, urged on the websites to make subscriptions for all the papers and pay into certain acco
