Roman Abramovich granted Israeli citizenship, reports say

Image
 (CNN) Chelsea Football Club owner and high-profile Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich has been granted Israeli citizenship, according to Israeli media. Israel’s Interior ministry told CNN that Abramovich had arrived in Tel Aviv on Monday, but wouldn’t confirm his citizenship status. Israel’s Absorption Ministry, which is responsible for immigrants during their first three years in the country, also declined to comment on the case as it’s a private matter. The Russian-Jewish billionaire would have been granted citizenship under the Law of Return which allows Jews to become citizens of Israel. Abramovich had faced delays renewing his UK visa earlier this month and missed seeing Chelsea win the FA Cup at London’s Wembley Stadium. An Israeli citizen with a full passport can visit the UK for up to six months without a visa, according to the UK government’s  web portal . A source close to Abramovich told CNN last week that the billionaire’s UK visa had expired about three weeks e

BALE FEATURES BUT NO RONALDO IN REAL MADRID’S 2018-19 KIT LAUNCH

Image
The Welshman has been heavily linked with an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu but has been pictured in the new strip for the 2018-19 season Gareth Bale may be linked with a mega-money move to Manchester United, but the Wales forward has featured in Real Madrid’s latest kit launch. Bale scored twice in the Champions League final at the weekend, the first a brilliant overhead kick, as Real ran out 3-1 winners over Liverpool in Ukraine. However, his exceptional acrobatics did not dominate the headlines, as he gave an interview after the game insisting that he must be playing regularly, sending the transfer rumour mill into a frenzy. United have been heavily linked with the 28-year-old, while former club Tottenham are said to have first refusal on any deal. Nevertheless, the attacker features heavily in Madrid’s kit launch, along with Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Karim Benzema and Nacho Fernandez. Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence from the launch may set tongues wagging, too, after the Portugal su

Football academy owner allegedly shaves children’s pubic hair

Image
A football academy owner, Victor Achidume, has been arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly shaving the armpits and pubic hair of some children for alleged ritual purposes. The 43-year-old was alleged to have given the children between N100 and N200 after shaving their pubic hair. The state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, during a press briefing on Monday said six victims had testified against the suspect. He said, “Victor Achidume, a suspected cult member, lured some young people, aged between 11 to 15 years, to his house after a football game, shaved their armpits and pubic hair ostensibly for ritual purposes, and thereafter gave them between N100 and N200. About six boys came forward and said there were still some of their colleagues, who they were going to come forward. “Naturally, the suspect denied the allegation. However, I was quick to ask him a question – Is there any possible reason why the young boys will want to tell lies or frame you? Of

Nicki Minaj ‘dating’ claims now appear very real as Eminem comfirms it on stage {Watch Video}

Image
Recent claims on Instagram that rap stars Eminem and Nicki Minaj have started dating have been thrown into question by new public statements, some saying it was all a joke. But on stage at a concert in Boston on Sunday, Eminem, 45, twice asked his audience “How many people in Boston want me to date Nicki Minaj?”  Much of the crowd yelled in the affirmative. “Well Goddammit, me too,” Eminem said, who proceeded to offer a few words for Minaj from the stage. “Nicki, if you get this message, just text me later, we’ll talk about it,” he said. Minaj, 35, who is responsible for sparking the dating speculation with an  Instagram post  last week, soon responded to Eminem’s Boston message. In a lighthearted Twitter post that she peppered with emoticons, Minaj laughed at Eminem’s shout out and declared that he is “silly & a goof just like me. Love him so much.” But the same post then called into question the seriousness of her earlier dating claim. The tweet said to Eminem that “we

Fighter jets bomb militants to death after ’25 mortars fired from Gaza’ to Isreali primary school

Image
The attack comes after Israel said several dozen shells were fired into its territory on Tuesday – one exploding near a school. Israeli jets have bombed militant positions in the Gaza Strip after the country’s army said 25 mortar shells were fired into its territory. “Most of the launches were intercepted by the IDF’s (Israel Defence Forces) Iron Dome aerial defence system,” said an Israeli military spokesman. He added that one shell had exploded near a preschool before the children had started for the day. Sirens sounded at villages and towns near the border as the shells came in, but there were no reports of injuries. The mortar attack appears to be the largest from Gaza since the 2014 war. After the barrage, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “Israel will exact a heavy price from those who seek to harm it and we see Hamas as responsible for preventing such attacks.” Locals said Israeli jets later retaliated by striking positions belonging to Gaza’s Islamic Jihad group,

U.S. President Donald Trump this month withdrew the United States from the Iran nuclear deal and ordered the reimposition of U.S. sanctions suspended under the 2015 accord. Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj said New Delhi’s position was independent of any other country. “India follows only U.N. sanctions, and not unilateral sanctions by any country,” she said at a

Russia 2018: AS Roma declares support for Nigeria

‘Italy won’t be there, so #ASRoma will be supporting our own players and the #SuperEagles – #ForzaSuperEagles.’ The club also retweeted the 30-man Nigeria’s provisional list recently announced by head coach Gernot Rohr. Unclear support There is no clear explanation for AS Roma supporting the Super Eagles. Two Nigerians play for La Lupa,  Nura Abdullahi and Umar Sadiq – none of which has been included in the Super Eagles’ preliminary World Cup squad. However, both footballers spent last season on loan – Abdullahi at Perugia and Sadiq with Dutch side Naq Breda. According to Italian news site TPI,   the reason dates back to last month, when La Lupa defeated Barcelona in the Uefa Champions League. After the match,  Roma shared on its social channels the crazy exultation of the Nigerian commentator Mark Otabor after the great comeback of the Giallorossi. ‘Return flights booked to Lagos to sign @MarkOtabor for @romatv,’ tweeted the Italian side. From that day, therefore, sympathy
