Gunmen Tactically Raid Police Station In Cross River State, Empty Armory Daily Trust is reporting that gunmen have attacked the Ekori police station in Yakurr local government area of Cross River state. According to the report, the attack has been confirmed by a spokesman of the Cross River state police command, Igri Ewa Ewa was said to have told journalists in the state capital, Calabar on Monday, April 12 that the attackers, suspected to be cultists, invaded the police station, but assured that investigation has commenced on the issue. Americans troop out in anger after police shoot black man in traffic, says “sorry it was a mistake” Tear gas has been fired and a curfew imposed amid angry protests after police fatally shot a black man in a traffic stop in the US city of Brooklyn Center, just north of Minneapolis. The man has been identified by relatives as 20-year-old Daunte Wright. You don’t need AC inside – Nigerian man who built house with plastic bottles A civil engineer, Ahmed Yahaya, who became popular after using thousands of bottles to build a house has spoken more about what influenced his decision to go through with that kind of recycling. In a BBC News Pidgin interview, the man said he used pet bottles to design the house in an African round shape, such that there are three rooms that could be used for different purposes. The civil engineer stated that the discarded bottles are gathered from different dumps in Kaduna. He added that during the collection, nobody took them seriously, asking why they were busy collecting waste around. Ahmed disclosed that what they set out on drew so much attention that people wanted to really see how it would turn out. LG Closes Its Smart Phone Business After Losing ₦1.7 trillion($4.5b) In Just 6 Years LG Electronics said on Monday it would close down its loss-making smartphone business. In January, the South Korean electronics giant said it was looking at all options for the division after almost six years of losses totalling around $4.5bn (£3.3bn). Lorry Driver Who Caused Train Accident With 50 People Dead Says He’s Sorry As He Cools Of In Jail A construction site manager whose lorry slid on to a railway track and led to Taiwan’s worst train disaster in decades has expressed “deep regret”. Lee Yi-hsiang, 49, said he was “deeply remorseful” and wanted to give his “most sincere apologies”. His flatbed lorry was parked on an embankment but slipped down it, causing the train to derail on Friday near the city of Hualien. At least 50 people were killed and more than 200 injured in the crash. Mr Lee was part of a team who regularly inspected Taiwan’s mountainous eastern train line for landslides and other risks. He was also thought to be the flatbed’s operator. Tension in Imo State as Gunmen Shoot 7 Northern Traders Dead, Others Flee for Their Lives There is palpable tension in Imo state following the murder of seven traders of northern extraction, Daily Trust has reported. According to the newspaper, the victims were killed in separate shooting incidents in Orlu town and Umuaka in Njaba local government area between Friday, April 2, and Saturday, April 3. An eyewitness, Harisu Umaru Ishiaku, said the killers who were dressed in military uniform stormed the Afor Umuaka market around 8.30pm and attacked the victims. Police seek arrest of man who’s truck entered a rail track killing (now 50 people) who were going for annual celebration of their dead relatives Prosecutors in Taiwan want to arrest a construction site manager whose lorry is suspected of causing a train crash in which at least 50 people died.
