A legal practitioner, Mr. Chukwunweike Okafor, yesterday Monday, approached the Federal High Court in Abuja with an application seeking a declaration that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), lacked the educational qualification to stand for the February 14 presidential election. The originating summons marked FHC/ABJ/CS/01/2015, according to  PUNCH , has Buhari, APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission as the first, second and third defendants  respectively.

A Twitter user, @MusadiqZ posted this photo of the woman, and claims she has donated her life savings of one million Naira to ensure that Muhammadu Buhari wins the presidential election. The report has not been confirmed yet until an official statement from Buhari’s campaign team is released.

An unmanned drone suspected to be used on the counter-insurgency operation in the Northeast has crashed at Dumge village of Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State this afternoon, KSM News has learnt. Dumge is 30km northeast of Maiduguri. Earlier today CNN had reported that the U.S. Secret Service is investigating a “device,” described as a small drone, found on the grounds of the White House, a White House official said Monday, and Press Secretary Josh Earnest said early indications are that the device does not pose an ongoing threat.

A 15-year-old student, Precious Okoro has been kidnapped from Ogun state and taken to Niger Republic. Reports say the kidnapping syndicate has demanded a ransom of $100,000 for her release. The victim’s father, Nwaigwe, told Punch Newspapers that Precious was kidnapped around Songotedo, in the Ajah area of Lagos State, where she had boarded a commercial vehicle en route to her school in Ikenne, Ogun State.

A 24-year-old hair stylist, Miss Juliet Osimen received an unexpected acid bath from her lover of three years, Austin According to  Vanguard,  Juliet met Austin while working at a fast food centre in the Niger Cat neighborhood of Ekpan, Delta State, where her father, Pastor Sunday Osimen, farmer and Head at the Mountain of God’s Grace Ministry in the area, also owns a modest home. Members of the European Union election monitoring team met with the presidential candidate of the APC, Gen. Buhari earlier today, over next month's general election. The members, led by Mr Santiago, said 90 members of their team are expected in Nigeria during the elections. The team however stated that because of the security challenges in the north, they will not be heading there for any monitoring exercise.

There was rioting between students of Ekiti State State University (EKSU) and the management of one of its affiliate colleges, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education in Noforija, Epe Lagos State where some students were allegedly brutalized by security men drafted by the school to disperse them. Heard the riot was over the failure of MOCPED to present the results of students of the College to the Senate of EKSU for approval which would enabled the affected students obtain certificates.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, President Goodluck Jonathan, arrived Metropolitan Square, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, about 12.25pm on Monday for his presidential campaign. He received rousing welcome from a mammoth crowd at the venue. More photos below..

A gang of five men had invaded the home of a 31-year-old renowned politician, Richard Madirisha, and beheaded him over claims that he committed adultery. The perpetrators of the act went ahead and chopped off some parts of his body including his genitals, hands and legs and subsequently cooked them outside the house in the southern Katavi region of Tanzania. A local Police official, Dhahiri Kidavashari, who narrated the incident to AFP on Sunday, January 25, 2015 said,  “Five people stormed Madirisha’s room wielding machetes, beheaded him, chopped off legs, hands and genitals. “The assailants later cooked the chopped off body parts outside the house.” Meanwhile, Kidavashari disclosed that at least three men were arrested and detained by police in connection with the crime.

The Augustines’ rented apartment The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a gang of armed robbers, including a couple, who allegedly went to rob in an estate at Abule Lemode in the Ijoko area of the state. A correspondent of  Punch  gathered that the four suspects ─ Amache and Seun Augustine, Taiwo Dada and Ezekiel Alawode ─ were apprehended while allegedly robbing at Santos Crescent, Araromi Estate. They were reportedly arrested at about 9.30pm on Saturday, January 17. Punch Metro learnt that the suspects, who were in possession of a locally-made pistol, were first apprehended by the members of the local vigilance group before they were handed over to the Agbado Police Division, Ayinla, on Sunday.

Did this really happen??? According to a blog reader whose sister in law attends the university, Redeemers University did suspend 22 students for not attending church. Here's the sad email she sent in yesterday, guys. She actually sent two mails on this, so I'm going to put them out just as she sent them in. First email: Hello Paul, Will send you more information on this later but in the main time you can make your findings.  As the title reads, Redeemers University suspended over 22 students because they didn't go to church, even a student that didn't go because she has asthma attack was suspended. They are to be suspended till next semester effective from tomorrow thereby causing them to miss their first semester exam.

According to reports gathered by  City People , six members of the Labour Party in Ogun State were said to have lost their lives along Owode-Idi-Iroko Road, Yewa South local government area of the state when the bus they were travelling in had a head-on collision with vehicles believed to be driven by suspected smugglers.  Two prominent leaders among the victims were Ibrahim Oladele, and Wale Oke, together with four others. They were said to be on their way to Abeokuta to participate in the party’s programme on Thursday when the accident occurred. Sources explained that the smugglers were fleeing from the men of Nigeria customs Service, and this led to a head-on collision with the bus that was loaded with Labour party members, that was coming from the opposite direction. The state Secretary of the party, Sunday Oginni, confirmed the incident,

Birdman and Lil Wayne have officially declared war. Settlement talks have broken down and Wayne will now sue his mentor, claiming among other things Birdman owes him $8 million. As  TMZ  reported, the 2 titans tried coming to terms this week but it wasn't meant to be. Now Wayne will ask a judge to declare him free of Cash Money and Birdman's control. Wayne says Birdman has violated their contract by withholding the release of his new album. As for the $8 MIL claim, Wayne says Birdman owed the money for his latest album -- it was supposed to be an advance.
